Neighborhood Night !

In honor of Chef Jessica’s upcoming trip to Italy and France we are celebrating with unforgettable haute cuisine! On April 18th at 6pm to sell out, we have a menu woven with both French and Italian influences! Chef Jessica will be collaborating with Italian trained chef and farmer @saladdayssuz on this night to remember!

This is an age old debate of “who done is first?!” The French or the Italian?

It has been said that the birth place of haute cuisine was France. The home of Escoffier and the French mother sauces etc. But have you heard the story of Catherine de’ Medici? She was an Italian (Florentine) noblewoman who married King Henry ll.

Florence was then the centerpiece of the Renaissance, and the heart of European culture. The sophisticated Catherine brought with her an entourage which included her talented Italian chefs. Over the course of her long reign as queen, Catherine’s court developed the first haute cuisine in France.

Also during that period, we have Marie-Antoine Carême who was a leading French  chef who is credited with coding the key 5 French mother sauces and is considered to be the first “celebrity chef.”

So…as history shows many great works and ideas are often born simultaneously, could it be “ancient aliens” planting these ideas in our heads? Or is it that great works and ideas inspire other great ideas and that’s really what art and culture is all about?! I think so !
